Hi! I'm Matilde, I'm 18 years old and I'm from Lisbon, Portugal.

I'm finishing the first year of my degree in Biomedical Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisbon), which I'm really enjoying (mostly the people and the academic life, but some study in between, of course eheh).

I've played volleyball since I was 12 years old, even played for a few months in my university volleyball team, but now I only run 3/4 times per week, which is something i found out recently I quite like.

I've always enjoyed being part of students associations/organizations (non political) and organise initiatives/events and in my senior year I was the president of the students association, which was a responsibility that made me grow a lot and taught me (a lot!) about the others and myself. I would definitly do it again and hope to engage in some students groups as it is definitly something I'm missing.

I've founded recently a association with some friends from my old school and, once a week, we go to a neighborhood near our school and each of us help a kid who usually have some difficulties at school, something we have been doing for 4 years now.

If we get the chance to meet one day, I hope to be a nice company and that we mutually learn from each other and have a good time!

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I'm doing an Interrail this summer (end of July - - end of August) with 2 friends and was looking for cheap places to stay (1st year in uni, the money is not that much eheh) and found out about CS - I had never heard of the concept, but loved it!

I love to meet new people, exchange life experiences, learn from their countries/cultures and have good times with them (hope you'll be one of them). I've never travelled with friends, the closest thing I've done was a CISV camp in Graz, Austria, which I'll never forget:)

I still live with my parents and I have a baby sister (plus 2 teenage brothers and 2 cats), so the house it’s pretty full (and kinda messy all the time, not gonna lie ahah), but I really want to host some surfers, whether it is some months/years from now in my parents house or at my own house:)
