About Me

ABOUT ME

I am a very friendly, clean and polite house guest. Professionally, I work as a teacher at a small bioregional school in Victoria, BC. I am passionate about music and cooking (I am a phenomenal chef) and I share both graciously with my couch surfing hosts. It is important that I reciprocate my hosts generosity when I am staying at their house and am happy to cook, clean and help out in any way I can.

If you choose me as a guest at your house you are gauranteed an evening of interesting conversation, good food and genuine warmth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love going to a place and meeting people who live there--it gives you an opportunity to understand a place beyond what tourism is trying to sell you. You get a sense of the day to day life and struggles of the people there and you get to make friends in the process. I love connecting with people and sharing what little I have.

Interests

Cooking, music, carpentry, violin, painting, poetry, learning, teaching, philosophy, community building, astronomy, gardening, sustainable farming, environmentalism, anti-oppression, living life to it's fullest, personal growth and of course love! -- I haven't used couch surfing for awhile and these are the things I wrote in my early 20's, I thought I'd leave them hear because it makes me happy to see what has stayed the same and what has changed and grown. I would say I do much less carpentry these days and play a lot more Magic the Gathering. I also don't own a Violin anymore but still play my guitar regularly.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all types of music but intentially seek out idiosyncratic bands that try to say something with their sound. I absolutely hate "scenes" of music. That being said I'll probably sound pretentious in my musical tastes. I love the War on Drugs. Other bands I've been listening to lately are Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett, exile on mainstreet by the Rolling Stones, Band on the Run by Wings, Every one's a winner by Hot Chocolate, Boston, and a mish mash of other random oldies and new artists.

Bookwise, I've really gotten into reading biographies of famous rock bands--it's really interesting to learn about the thoughts and life experiences that lead people to become household names. Recently finished Sun, Moon and the Rolling Stones, and am working on Bob Dylan Chronicles Vol. 1.

Movies, I'm a sucker for Rom Com's but I enjoy a lot of different things.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I road my bicycle from my home in Victoria, BC to the Grand Canyon. I wrote over 150 pages in my journal on that trip and still look back on it for lessons learned.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a lot to offer. When you look to my interests you get a sense of practical skills I might possess, however, I think my real talents lie in my ability to work with children. I'm someone who spends there day on the frontlines trying to change the system and support the next generation of youth. I'm always happy to talk philosophically.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a phenomenal cook, I can clean really well, and I'm an interesting conversationalist.
