I live in NE Portland about 5 miles from downtown in a community-oriented house with 3 roommates. We enjoy hosting guests on Couchsurfing, Warm Showers, as well as through our many community connections. We enjoy food/meal sharing and are an ecologically-minded household.

I work for a great non-profit organization serving those in need of vision and hearing assistance. I provide technology services and manage our largest program, consisting of a team that coordinates vision screenings for children at over 600 schools in Oregon each year.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because hotels are sterile, because traveling is about meeting and interacting with locals and much more enriching. Because traveling to new places shouldn't have to be solely about an economic exchange. I live in an urban, intentional community where we often welcome guests interested in urban homesteading, the Portland do-it-yourself scene, etc. Sometimes we host from couchsurfing, sometimes from our many other life-connections. I haven't used my own account to host many folks, currently.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In July 2015, I took a self-supported bike tour from Portland to San Francisco over about 3 weeks (800 miles).

I enjoy cooking and contributing to shared meals.

I love urban and rural homesteading projects where I can lend a hand with this or that... have experience in large garden projects, handy in small construction projects, help out with animals, etc.
