I am a Beatlemaniac but also dig Talking Heads, Pavement, Paul Simon, Guided by Voices, R.E.M., Built to Spill, Aretha, Radiohead, Ween, Polvo, Ry Cooder, Wilco, Iggy, the Replacements, Wire, Cake, Giant Sand, Thee Oh Sees, Allman Bros, PE, New Pornographers, the Jesus Lizard, and all the hits. I've recently been getting more into Wand, Jonathan Richman, Juana Molina, and the Police.

The best movies I've seen include Dog Day Afternoon, The Idiots, Rumble Fish, Home Alone 2, Apocalypse Now, Being John Malkovich, Bicycle Thieves, Boogie Nights, Man Bites Dog, the Mighty Ducks, A Fish Called Wanda, Killer of Sheep, Toy Story, The Third Man, Macbeth (by Pulanski), etc.

The best works I've read include Gulliver’s Travels, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, True History of the Kelly Gang, Ragtime, Hunger, Winesburg, OH, Moby-Dick, Housekeeping, Cane, The Canterbury Tales, Animal's People, My Ántonia, Blood Meridian, Tristram Shandy, all of Percival Everett's novels, and nearly anything by Thomas Pynchon. I both love and have serious problems with J.M. Coetzee's and Joseph Conrad's novels. My favorite prose writer is James Baldwin or M.H. Kingston, and my favorite poet is John Donne, Adrienne Rich, Dr. Seuss, or Charles Bukowski.
