he's tall and she's short. she's a big picture person, and he's a details man. she is the extrovert, he's pretty much the opposite. he's coordinated and she likes to coordinate (her outfit, and those around her). she loves to cook, and doing the dishes helps him to wake up. but they both believe in the importance of treating others as they would like to be treated.
they have three children now. romily is 7 years old and rowing into a lovely young lady; miriam, 5, is a clown but also quite thoughtful and knows what she want. Our 3 year old, willa, is growing up fast and is embracing the world around her with open arms.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

towards the end of our honeymoon in New Zealand we were getting pretty broke, so we started hitch-hiking and decided to look at couches to surf. We sent a few emails, but left our run a bit late, so ended up booking a hostel. A lovely bloke go in touch, and invited us to join him at a gig (as we couldn't stay over). We had a great night, some good music, good conversation, and great beer!
since then we've had a number of CS people stay with us, and overall it has been a really positive experience - so great to have the chance to share hospitality, and enjoy the company of lots of random people!!!

Interests

our new cottage and land in the hills. between renovations, fences, getting the blackberry's under control, and three lively girls, life is pretty full. We love music - making it and listening to it! matt loves to create something beautiful from discarded and overlooked timber, and Soph sews a bit. matt is involved with the local fire brigade and being on call to attend fires and accidents adds an element of surprise to our lives. travelling, hiking, arthouse films, reading, bike-riding, fishing, our veggie garden.... and lots lots more!

Music, Movies, and Books

we just went to see U2 live, which was astounding! we mostly like blues and roots, and folky-jazzy stuff. bruce cockburn, olafur arnald's, antony and the johnsons. reading a book called bhagdad's burning, a collection of blogs from a girl in iraq. our current favorite flicks are monsoon wedding and garden state - plus an all-time favorite- the princess bride!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

having romily and miriam and willa born into water at our home have to be the most amazing experiences, and watching them grow is incredible! apart from that, there are too many to tell... from victoria falls in zimbabwe, to the beautiful friends in ghana. 5 hours on the back of a motorbike traveling though the mountains of mindinao to fitting all we own into back of a troupie and trailer. a cruise down the river in bangladesh to getting married at a farmhouse in geelong!
