who knows? I surely don't.
Hi, I'm Mat, I'm a student in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape. I'm an interested guy, curious about the world and the people in it. I like getting to know new people and places. I worked as a photojournalist in Cape Town, which was a great way to see the city in a different light. I like to think I've taken some of that influence with me, and I still shoot occasionally. I have a valid Private Pilot's Licence (small planes only) so I fly when I can, if I can.
I love to travel, some of my most fun memories have been on the road. These days it's mostly local, but I stay hopeful :)
Life shouldn't be taken too seriously
(and neither should I)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'll find that out as I go. So far I've participated in many CS events, I've been part of the CT "local cs crowd" which was amazing fun. Mostly, I make friends and show people around if I have time.
So far so good. Many fun times with the cs crew in Cape Town. I've surfed twice and haven't had a couch to host yet, so it's been more social than "classic" cs experience, but no less enjoyable for it. Hopefully I'll have occasion (and logistics) to host soon.
that's always a tricky question, "what are your hobbies?"
I dunno really. Stuff. I play soccer and ultimate, I hike, I play games, I take pictures, fly small planes, read, watch movies, the usual (besides the planes. I got lucky with that one).
Music, Movies, and Books
another classic but tricky question. I'll read anything, watch anything, listen to anything. Any genre really, I do admit to being quite picky. To be honest my studies have kept me pretty busy and I've read one novel the entire year. Very sad.
A Case of Exploding Mangoes, Ian Banks, Jonny Steinberg, Ryszard Kapuà âºcià âski
Fallen, the Departed, Lucky Number Slevin, in Bruges, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf other odd bits
I'll listen to a pretty wide range, but I never seem to remember artists, song names, or albums, as much as "that tune". I come back to 80's rock most often.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My travels and my work as a photojournalist, sporadic as both have been, are probably the times in my life that mean the most to me/have defined me the most.
