Overview
About Me
I'm a 27-year-old italian half way through my PhD in Physics. I'm a sociable, easy-going, empathic, open-minded and energic person and I really can't help but getting involved in many projects besides my studies. If I had to describe myself with only one single word, that would definitely be “curious”. My irrepressible curiosity is probably the reason why I ended up studying physics, but I also love many other things beside science. And if you're passionate enough you'll be able to get me into – or at least get me to appreciate – pretty much anything.
My absolutely favourite thing is travel (not so uncommon among couchsurfers, hehe). I love to meet new people and to understand their culture, their way of being and of thinking. I also love to discover and try new things. You'll never see me eat the same thing twice in a restaurant, unless I have already tried everytihing on the menu. But to be honest, you'll rarely see me in a restaurant, I'm still too poor to eat out often (although I truly LOVE food, I really consider it amongst the best things). I've never had much money, but I was quite lucky and was able to seize some good opportunities, so I've traveled a fair amount so far, at least in Europe. But there are still sooooo many places out there I'd like to see!
MY CURRENT MISSION
I am doing a PhD in Physics in the beautiful Trieste. My mission is to try to mantain a balanced life between academia, other interests and social life. With a slight tendency for my life to slip towards the social side. But in the end all my friendships and relations give me a lot of - at least perceived - stability, so I think building connections is never a waste of time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I visit some place, besides seing the main sights, I also love to get off the touristic routes, try to get involved in the place's spirit, experience some local life. Have you ever been in Venice with a local? You should try, it's even better than on the tourists' side! I think Couchsurfing is the right place where to look for these kind of experiences.
I've surfed many friends' couches all around Europe and the world and since I moved to a bigger house me and my flatmates constantly host friends, friends of friends or even travelers met by chance. So I’ve long been an unofficial Couchsurfer and host, but I am quite new to this community. I've met many Couchsurfers and they were all amazing people and some are now really good friends. So I definitely want to use more this platform, this network of great people!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Seeing Valle dei Templi (Agrigento, Italy) at sunset, 2 hours after closing time (not a single person except us). (Bonus: being invited to a traditional Indian wedding in rural Rajasthan, India. I was the only non-indian among hundreds of people!).
Teach, Learn, Share
I’ve actually always felt I have much more to learn than to teach. Still, some people find it interesting to talk with me. But I’m sorry: I don't have any talent for synthesis so it’s up to you to find out whether there’s something I can teach you.
I love to talk with people, to listen to their stories and to share my experiences, even better if while having a bottle of wine or some beers. I can cook quite well (that's probably a reflection of my unconditionate love for food), so we can definitely cook some italian food together, you'll love it. I love hiking and open-air activities. But I’m also amazed by man-made creations such as cities, technology, art,... you name it! I can be genuinely interested in – seriously - anything you propose, even things I had never considered before.
