Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Half of a travel experience for me is the people that I meet along the way. I love connecting with strangers from all walks of life. I want to ask many questions and listen to all the stories and life experiences of the host. When I travel to another country or area, I don't just want to experience common tourist things that are listed on Google. By living with a local I hope to experience the culture fully, and hopefully get a feeling for the day-to-day life in the area. I'm easy going and feel comfortable in any environment. Every new place/person is a new adventure and story to tell.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first story that came to mind: While living in Pretoria, South Africa 🇿🇦. While I was walking from my university campus to my flat, I heard some screaming from a lady, claiming that her phone was just grabbed and stolen. My natural response was to give my backpack to one of my friends, sprint down the street and around the corner in pursuit of the thief. When I eventually caught up to him, and was about 2 meters behind him, I wanted to punish him with an ankle tap 🥊. But then he looked back over his shoulder in disbelief, and handed the phone to me and apologized. I was so shocked, that I took the phone and just let him run away. I then returned it to the lady who couldn't say much because she was still in quite a state.
