Hey there! My name is Matt and I'm a research associate helping develop the next generation of treatments and cures in the immunology and antibiotics spaces, living in Basel, Switzerland. While I was born in the US, I moved around quite a bit growing up. I lived in Västerås, Sweden for 5 years and in Spain for 2 years, and while I was doing my bachelor’s degree at Georgia Tech my family moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for 3 years. As such, I am fluent in English, Spanish, and Swedish (though I am many, many years out of practice), can pass in Portuguese, and am working on learning/improving my German (I'm always down to practice speaking another language and help others as well).

I love traveling, biking, cooking, photography, technology/gadgets, skiing, and card/board games. I have so far visited 42 countries across 5 continents and am excited to continue exploring. I am also very into road cycling and like taking nice weekend tours, bikepacking, and am always down for an after-work ride.

I have been cooking since I was 5 years old, of course only simple things like eggs or simple pasta then, but like to think I am quite a good cook/barista now making as I make my own pasta dough from scratch, phenomenal Brazilian rice and beans, crêpes, delicious cappuccinos, and more; I'm always down for some awesome food, drinks, and conversation!

I one of the coolest single things I have ever done was go hang gliding near Rio de Janeiro where I jumped off a mountain and soared above the take-off point for nearly half and hour before landing on a beautiful beach along the Atlantic ocean!
