我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I quit my job in July 2014, flew straight to Guatemala - and with very minimal knowledge of Spanish - stayed with a family who spoke no English. Over three weeks, I began to learn about the people around me, and a language that I am gradually getting a grasp of. Since then, I have traveled to Belize, Cuba and Mexico, and I've realised that no matter how poor or how wealthy people are in any culture, we all fundamentally share the same fears, insecurities and joy about life.

Things are never quite as bad as they seem, with a little perspective. At the end of the day, despite all our differences, we all just want the same things - a sense of security, and the joy of being alive!
