ABOUT ME
I'm 40. I studied Buddhism and Hinduism in College in Colorado, when I graduated I worked as a wilderness guide/instructor teaching rock-climbing, skiing, canoeing. I was robbed of everything I owned in New York and jumped on a plane to London, ended up spending 2 years teaching English in Malaga Spain, then came home and worked as a carpenter for a while in Taos New Mexico and San Diego California. In 94 I started sitting in on classes at UCSD in Cognitive Science, and became interested in studying human-computer interaction and computer models of cognition. I went back to school at the University of Washington in Seattle and studied design and architecture of various web-based computer systems. When I graduated I worked for 8 years in Seattle as a computer programmer for several startups, some of which made other people wealthy and some of which failed spectacularly. In the early 2000s I became interested in international relations and third world development issues surrounding sustainability. In 2004 I quit my job, got rid of most of my stuff, and moved to a small town on the beach in southern Oaxaca in Mexico that I had discovered on earlier travels. I started a small organization for promoting sustainable development that so far has accomplished nothing of interest. I bought land and took a year off to build a house. I ran out of money and was desperately broke for a while. Now I am working with the local indigenous and ex-pat communities helping them build websites for various reasons.
