About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Taking over the world, one language at a time
ABOUT ME
Historical Linguist and Epigraphist. I study old languages... new ones too, but mostly old ones.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm a bit of a secular humanist. I try to accept a positive view of human nature and act in accordance with it as such.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I do a bit of travel and sometimes need short term places to stay. I'd be willing to host people myself, if I were currently able. I'm also interested in meeting travellers and participating in conversation exchanges with people learning languages.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have stayed with academic friends who are couchsurfers and couchsurfing hosts, but haven't formally joined the website until now.
Interests
Currently, I'm working on a Ph.D. focusing on Ancient Greek dialectology at the University of Cambridge. When I'm not doing that, I can usually be found playing a bouzouki or a guitar. One of my life's goals is to learn as many languages as humanly possible...
- traveling
- guitar
- history
- languages
Music, Movies, and Books
Musically I like a bit of more-or-less everything, but my tastes have been gravitating towards folk music over the last few years, and I've recently begun studying Greek and Turkish traditional music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Basically, anything I've ever done working with antiquities in Greece. Exploring the old Athenian border-fort of Rhamnous without any supervision was pretty awesome.
Teach, Learn, Share
Beyond sharing what I know about ancient history or individual languages, I can share the generally applicable skills of linguistic analysis.
