Overview
About Me
My name is Matthias and I'm relatively new to Couchsurfing. After graduating I spent some years doing random jobs, saving money to make big trips around the world. I love travelling, but after some time I felt unhappy coming home to the same kind of jobs I didn't like, and I decided to focus on finding a job that suits me and that I would fully enjoy.
I did find what I was searching for, and currently have the most amazing job as personal assistant of Thomas, a very inspiring and lovable man with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As a matter of fact, my job gave me even more than I was looking for.
Thomas has a lot of travel plans, and he has turned to Tieke (his other assistant) and me to accompany him in the realisation of these plans.
Upcoming May and June, the three of us will be travelling through Europe in his van.
Through Couchsurfing, we hope to meet a lot of locals on our path!

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm into all kinds of music. I like dub and reggae, but also psychedelic rock, alternative rock and experimental music. I love to discover new artists and bands.
I have no television, so at home I mostly watch documentaries online.
From time to time I enjoy going to the cinema to watch promising titles on the big screen. Last seen and enjoyed; interstellar, mad max fury road, the hateful eight, the revenant.
I love to read, but somehow it is hard to pick up a book when I'm not travelling. Must read for all fellow travelers: Shantaram, by Gregory David Roberts.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Once I cooked dinner and the kitchen wasn't a total mess.
