About Me

I'm new to the app. I'm a French student currently working as an au pair in the United States since July 2023. I'm from La Rochelle, a seaside city popular among Parisians as a vacation destination! I love the ocean and spend all my time there, especially kitesurfing and surfing. I also enjoy discovering lots of new things. In France, I'm someone who loves to make jokes, but I obviously find it a bit more challenging to do so in English... I've been with my French girlfriend for almost four years, and she's also currently an au pair in Seattle. Besides that, I recently completed my bachelor's degree in mathematics and plan to start a master's program in artificial intelligence when I return home.

What I truly love is a change of atmosphere. I equally enjoy sleeping under the stars by a campfire, having long conversations, playing a game of poker, going out to a pub for a casual night, or spending an evening sipping champagne. What I love most is meeting new people and experiencing everything life has to offer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As an au pair, I’m eager to travel across the United States, discovering new places, cultures, and people. Couchsurfing offers the perfect way to do this, allowing me to connect with locals and experience each destination more authentically. Plus, since my budget is limited, this approach is ideal for making the most of my travels without breaking the bank!

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a lot of French music, so I don't think it's necessary to mention specific artists here, haha. But as for movies, I’d say my favorites are usually comedies, and I also love films by Christopher Nolan. While I don't mind watching a Marvel movie, I tend to enjoy films with realistic plots and a strong storyline even more.
For the reading, I’m trying to improve my English, so I’ve started with some young adult fiction that's not too difficult. I’m currently reading Cherub, which was my favorite book when I was younger. In France, though, I usually read books like Animal Farm or The Great Swindle.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve had many extraordinary adventures, but I think the one I'm currently experiencing as an au pair is the most significant. However, if I had to share another, it would be my trip to the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic Circle. A few years ago, I participated in a school project where we joined some researchers at a research station on the archipelago to study global warming. We witnessed stunning nature, so different from what I’m used to in France. This adventure truly changed a lot about how I live my life. And thanks to that I became aware of our impact on the climate.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a very flexible person and I'd be delighted to share your lifestyle and have interesting conversations with you. Coming from France, I have a totally different culture which opens up a lot of discussion. But if all you have to offer is a sofa and you don't have much time to devote to me, I completely understand and I'll be discreet.
