Adventure - enjoying every day, not planning to much ahead - ready to adapt to changes.
Nice person, with good energy and easy to be around. Courageous and independent. Good humor, big smile. A free bird and adventurous spirit. Intelligent and generous massage therapist, working with holistic healing, involving CST and Reiki - helping the body unwind and heal itself. Love to contribute with holistic healing to those who can offer a couch or friendship during travel.
Enjoy life while living; day by day, minute by minute. Be ready for change and appreciate all lessons learned. If we take the lesson and leave the shit we can grow to be more mature and vice and thus we can at any time appreciate both the ups and downs in life.
All emotions are human and still we are frequently told to hide our emotions, keep them to our selves, giving ourselves heartaches and stress. And at last when we confide with a friend or a person, passing through our lives, we find out that all these emotions are understood and known by EVERYONE ... why make life so hard - when it can be easy!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Great first encounters ... look forward to future connections and making new friends :)
I travel with my camera close to me, regard it as my best travel companion. I post my pictures on Flickr (web site: www.flickr.com/photos/thorgerdur_mattia / www.flickeflu.com/photos/thorgerdur_mattia/interesting. I also keep a blog, written in English: www.mattiais.com
I started my adventurous travel in January 2011 - went back home to Iceland in June 2011, stayed there until August 2012 and am now staying in Bahamas, where I took a seminar in Dolphin Assisted Therapy, and prolonged my stay. Went from the Bahamas to Jamaica and took a road trip in America, all the way to the Grand Canyon.
I love water therapy and the amazing energy of holistic healing, the body's inner ability to heal itself with a little assistance.
I have three grown up daughters, and enjoy every marvelous opportunity to follow my dreams and travel around the world. I love investigating, taking adventurous trips, meeting people and getting to understand different cultures. Never finished my studies to become a anthropologist, became an accountant instead, before I took my U-turn in life a few years ago, becoming a massage therapist, working with holistic healing treatment.
I love writing, have written poetry and short stories, working on my novel while travelling. Sometimes I combine poetry with my pictures. Creativity is a very important part of my being.
Music, Movies, and Books
I always have hard time listing favorites, enjoy so many. Love reading books that leave something behind, books you don't want to end - because you would like to keep on reading them. Paulo Coelho is of that kind. I like to listen to music, but at times I also love listening to nothing at all. One time favorite movie which I try to view every year: The Bridges of Madison County.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The amazing generosity and helpfulness of the Irish people, when I was facing problems. Swimming with dolphins in Bahamas. Snorkeling at a reef in Bahamas, seeing the underwater world, which is so different from what is up on land ... the colors, the nature down there made me realize where ideas get born; had often wondered how the makers of the movie Avatar got their ideas, feel now that I know!
The magnificence of the Grand Canyon can not be described, it has to be seen ...
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a massage therapist and love holistic healing. I can contribute in that way, helping people unwind from all kinds of physical problems, aches and pains. I can assist their bodies in healing themselves and I don't need a massage table, candles, scents ... healing therapy can take place everywhere, in a chair, on a couch or on the dining room table.
I would like to learn more in my field, advance in my spiritual wandering. I feel there is so much I still don't know, so many tools I might find and use in my own therapy (tools being a metaphor for knowledge and ways of working). Everyone I meet, everyone I treat is my teacher in a way - Although we all share the same emotions, no one has the same experience and everyone has a special gift, whether it is acknowledged or not.
