About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I live on a beautiful mountain surrounded by trees, waterfalls, and many local and intrastate hiking trails. I would like to host visitors and through hikers.

ABOUT ME

I would like to do something very different that involves travel. This is an idea that I have...."The Traveling House Guest". We all watch TV to escape for an hour and see how other people live. I would like to be a house guest in a different place for a period of 1 week and document the people I meet and the places I go. I would like to make a series of my adventures.
I would like to see if there is any interest in watching such a series or if you would be interested in hosting me for 1 week.

PHILOSOPHY

Do unto others as you have them do unto you. I try to spread a vigor for life, try to see above my problems, and strive for what is right. Treat others with respect, be kind, thoughtful, helpful, and may God smile upon you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm offering a place to stay in a major hiking region El Dorado County near South Lake Tahoe. It is also a road bicyclers destination and popular with off roaders on the Rubicon Trail.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Sure, I was traveling in Canada with my MX-5 Miata. I was looking for a place to stop for lunch when I saw this couple hitch-hiking beside the road. They were young, about my age and I decided it would be nice to have company for lunch, besides I had plenty to share. We shared quite a bit, and I told them I was driving accross country, doing some camping. I also appoligized because I could give BOTH of them a ride, because I only had a 2 seater roadster. Just as we were finishing lunch, a truck stopped and the young man jumped in, and told his girlfriend to jump in my car. He told me to follow the truck since I was going that way anyway. The cupple chatted on the cell phone a bit as I drove, and after a few minutes she asked if I would like to stop by their house for dinner and a place to sleep for the night. I told her I was honered and delighted. Wow! A home-cooked meal after so many days on the road! PERFECT! I had such a wonderful time with the Canadain couple. Early the next morning I awoke to french toast, bacon and coffee. We said our goodbyes, exchanged e mails, and I was back on the road headed on my way. I was so glad I decided to stop and share my lunch. I made two very nice friends!
While still living at my Vermont home I hosted a girl from Scotland who stayed for a few nights.

Interests

Before I was hurt, I was an avid hiker, alpine skier, pilot, mountain bike, motorcross racing, street bikes, and cliff diving. Now I am restricted to visiting with friends, TV, reading, some time on the computer, and I still love to travel. I try to make it back to Costa Rica once a year and back to Vermont to visit with friends and family.

Music, Movies, and Books

My last novel was Angles and Demons by Dan Brown. Very intresting and I liked it better than Davinci Code

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I sat in Tabacon Hot Springs Resort (actually a hot river) and watched Arenal Volcano errupt hot red glowing lava! I will never forget the sight nor the sounds it made. The area around the river was teaming with life, sounds, and all kinds of flowers, fruits, and animals. What a wonderful place in Costa Rica! I highly recoment it, especially for a honeymoon!

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy learning about other people, places they seen, people they have met. Stories from around the world. I just like people in general. I would like to open my home and property to those who will respect it, and treat it well so others can also enjoy the lush, beautiful valley.

Countries I’ve Visited
