About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be authentic, enthusiastic, and a good baker.

ABOUT ME

Born and raised in a small town in the midwest United States, I just recently finished a four-year university in Biology at Northwestern College in Orange City, IA. I have fallen in love with the rustic outdoors, and feel truly alive whenever I have the opportunity to explore them (especially via backpacking, hiking, running and working). Few things excite me more than travel and cross-cultural interaction; such as learning language, living with people from other cultures, and enjoying the opportunity of travel.

PHILOSOPHY

learn, listen, play, serve

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I always try to share what I have and live simply with the people who surround me. Providing generous hospitality is something I get excited about.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So great. Love meeting people, hearing their stories, and sharing a bit of life together.

Interests

I've worked for the national park service in Grand Teton National Park- vegetation management (weeds, reveg, field ID botany, etc) and wild-land firefighting. I have moderate experience in sustainable agriculture, construction, and many outdoor tasks. I have just recently completed a four-year college education with a focus on ecological science with a recent focus on botany.

In 2009, I was a student a semester study abroad program in Romania, studying within a Non-Governmental Organization - New Horizons (http://www.new-horizons.ro/). Lots o' experiential education, and sustainable development, and youth work.

But amidst the work and study, I find joy in baking, frisbees, reading, and essentially anything that happens outdoors.
