About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Move to the coast, learn to surf something more than couches

ABOUT ME

I'm a normal guy, I can get along with anyone and I like learning languages and other things, like martial arts, although I have more patience for learning martial arts. I think I'm friendly but a lot of people recently have told me I'm very serious. It's surprising for sure. I want to move out of Madrid and to the Portuguese coast for two major reasons. 1) to learn some portuguese and 2) to learn to surf at where I understand is a world famous place to surf.

I like going out and meeting people, and seeing rare or strange things and I don't want to work in an office or a (traditional) classroom ever. I studied to be a teacher, but I'm finding out more and more I have no skill or patience for teaching, but if it was something I enjoyed doing, I think I would enjoy it.

PHILOSOPHY

I just want to have fun every step of the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I will host, I've been hosted, I'm up for meetings, coffee, party, camping trips or otherwise.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had nothing but good couchsurfing experiences. I've stayed with some people, some people have stayed with me. all in all it's worked out quite well. You can check some of my reviews if you like. I tend to treat other people's homes as I would like them to treat mine. (couchsurfing golden rule?)

Interests

right now: I'm obsessed with organic "real food". I put that in quotation marks because it's a movement, I'm not trying to be ironic about food being fake haha. Nutrition is really interesting to me, and learning how to manipulate your body through food is fascinating.

I also train Brazilian jiu jitsu, which also partially drives my desire to learn portuguese. I want to train capoeira and yoga, but I am unable to find anything that fits my schedule with work.

Lastly I want to learn to surf. I drive myself a little crazy watching surfing videos, so I need to put a limit on how much I watch.

I like nature and mild weather, but I also like hot and cold weather too... but it's easier to do everything when it's mild

Music, Movies, and Books

I like... anything that has characters that are slightly (or extremely) crazy or where reality is a little warped. movies for example: american psycho, momento, shutter island (a little), inception, matrix blah blah blah

for books it's more complicated. I've tried time and time again to interest myself in some of the most popular books out there, and it just doesn't seem to work sometimes. If the book doesn't catch my interest in the first few pages, I'm afraid I'm a lost cause. the last full book I did read was a book called "what we say, goes" and it was basically an interview with american linguist Noam Chomsky.

With music I'm a complete mixed bag. I prefer to dabble in everything then say I really like this or that. I can go to a club, a rock concert, a hip hop concert, listen to classical to relax, metal to get my adrenaline up for martial arts. You name the genre and I probably like something from within it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I fell off a cliff in the woods by myself (about a 4 meter drop) landed on my back, got up and walked away fine, then a day later got hit by a car while riding a bike, THEN a week later was almost crushed by a wave at the beach. I almost was seriously hurt or died 3 times in a week. Isn't that amazing?

Also, I saw two camels headbutt and destroy the back of a taxi in a traffic accident while I was in Marrakech.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always learning and willing to offer something in conversation in return! I've experienced a lot and I think I can roll with anyone!
