About Me

Ride faster.

Hi everybody! Thanks for checking out my little piece of cyber space and please read my couch info! ;))

Easy going, pretty standard, like most normal Kiwi's.

Grew up on my parents farm, were I now help out between surfing and traveling. I worked in forestry management and consulting for a few years then the travel bug hit and I was off to find other adventures. Now back in forestry management and having a blast.

I love surfing and cycling. I surf when I can and I ride my bikes way to bloody much. I race both mountain XC and road bikes.

I am incredibly lucky to live in this part of New Zealand. Its like my own little playground. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Go for it. What ever your goals, dreams, ideas or loves, just bloody well do it. Tell that hottie you love them or your boss hes a gumboot. Its all good for the soul. I believe that life is to short and precious for self doubt and regrets. You get one life so make it count. But please be nice to others!

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

I am a CS ambasador for Whangarei. I am not really sure what that means but I will help out visitors however I can. If you have questions or need some help ask away.

Lots of hosting and a fair bit of surfing with others when I am lucky enough to be traveling. When I am at home it is so cool to host people and get their travel buzz and hear their stories. I cant travel all the time but it is the next best thing. So tell me all your crazy tales!

Surfing, and riding, riding, riding all the time.

I also like good food and even better ice cream.

I read plenty of books. I always have two or three books by my bed that I am alternating between. I mainly read non ficton as it gets my brain working a bit.

I have recently discovered that I can make some really nice foods.....in particular ones that satisfiy my sweet tooth, hehe! Requests start here.

Music, Movies & Books

A History of Violence
Pans Labyrinth. If you have not seen it you need to.
Donny Darko
The Departed
Blazing Saddles
The Three Amigos
Airplane 1 & 2
any silly stuff that makes me laugh.

Ok were do I start here.....lots and lots of things. It is aways changing depending on what I have just listened to.

Books by Richard Dawkins,
Charles Darwin - Origin of Species
Sam Harris - Letter to a Christian Nation
Simon Singh - Fermats last Theorem, Code Breakers and Big Bang, Jarrod Diamond - Collapse and Guns, Germs and Steel
Phillip Pullman - 'The Northern Lights trilogy' These are my favorite books ever. Amazing writing and story telling.

'The Life of Pi' So many books... cant think of them all.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Only one!? No way.....

Learning to surf. I've been surfing for over 25 years and it still blows my mind! And I am still completly crap at it! I have surfed with dolphins and been chased out of the water by sharks a few times, so thats pretty cool.

Racing motocross from when I was young was fanastic....the problem is that at 40 I dont bounce like I once did :)

Travel. I left it pretty late to start but I will never regret what I have done. I think anyone reading this will know what I mean!

Being alive......

Teach, Learn, Share

I think everyone should frown less and smile more. It makes you feel better!

Ohh...I will teach any one to surf if they want! My free surf school is all go and 100% successful so far!

I can also share the joy of home made ice cream in any flavour you would like and other yummy sweet stuff that makes us fat and happy!

Countries I've Visited

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom

Countries I've Lived In
