About Me

"it's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see" Henry D. Thoreau.

Hey there couchsurfing community!! I'm Mauri from Chile. I'm a digital nomad, vegan, open minded and easy going person. I love art and sports, I'm curious by nature and passionate about little things in life. I work in sustainable development because I believe we can leave a better world than we found it. I love to travel cause I always learn something new, like I've learned that you can travel even without leaving your place.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It’s been quite a journey these last 15 years that I’ve been traveling around the world (not permanently), where I have learnt, little by little, which way is the best (for me) to get to know this amazing place called earth. I can tell that I’ve learnt a lot from people I’ve hosted or being hosted by, and all these people (that you almost know nothing from) have taught me that when you share the same spirit of traveling and the hunger for knowledge, you can make a connection right away and then share your life in an honest way. Why am I on CS? Because I would love to know your perspective about life and would love to share mine.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love jazz, rock, punk and live music or festivals. Tarantino's movies are the best, and Scorsese, Miyazaki or Nolan blow my mind as well. My favorite writers are Sabato, Benedetti, Dostoyevesky, Murakami, Sartre and Tolkien.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bungee jumping from a bridge in the jungle. Scubadiving with sharks.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you basic lessons of guitar, I'm sure you will learn at least one song if you reeeeally go for it. If you like bikeriding I can take you around the city and show you the B side of it. I practice hatha yoga almost everyday and if you are into it I can teach you basic asanas or an intro to meditation. I can let you try to teach me how to cook, which might be like trying to teach a monkey how to sing, good luck!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I really love simple things and simple life, I know it sounds cliche but it's true. I love playing guitar and singing (and i used to have bands when I was 'younger') and cycling everywhere for a coffee or a beer around the city. You can always discover something new even when you have lived your whole life in the same place. I 'try' cooking and I can share my short list of simple but delicious food. Also, sharing books and stories along with a good chilean wine sometimes is the perfect plan.
