About Me

My name is Mauro Palheta, a creator and traveler from Marajó Island in the Brazilian Amazon. I grew up in a humble family, studied Natural Sciences, earned a government scholarship to pursue my Master’s degree in Rio de Janeiro, and later worked my way up from volunteer to manager in a beach hostel. In 2019, I also became a certified Flight Attendant.

After living two years in Australia, I decided to follow my true purpose: to travel the world and become the first person from Marajó to visit the 7 Wonders of the Modern World. I started sharing my journey only a few months ago and I’ve already reached thousands of people, inspiring others to dream bigger, travel more, and believe in new beginnings.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on Couchsurfing because my journey is built on human connections. I come from a humble background in the Brazilian Amazon, and every step I’ve taken around the world was possible because someone opened a door, shared a story, or simply believed in me.

Traveling, for me, is not just about places, it’s about people. Couchsurfing allows me to meet locals, learn from different cultures, and create genuine memories that no hotel could ever offer.

I’m currently on a mission to travel the world and become the first person from Marajó Island to visit the 7 Wonders of the Modern World. Along the way, I want to share kindness, exchange experiences, and show that dreams grow stronger when we support each other.

Couchsurfing reminds me that the world is full of good people and that we go further when we go together.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I’ve done was leaving my small hometown on Marajó Island, in the Brazilian Amazon, to chase a life I had only seen in my dreams. I had no money, no connections, and no guarantees just courage. I earned a government scholarship, moved alone to a big city, became a flight attendant, lived in Australia, and eventually decided to follow my biggest purpose: to travel the world and become the first person from Marajó to visit the 7 Wonders of the Modern World.

The amazing part isn’t the places I’ve been it’s proving to myself, and to anyone watching, that where you start doesn’t define how far you can go.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love the exchange that happens when people from different worlds meet. I can teach about life in the Brazilian Amazon, my culture from Marajó Island, and my journey of turning dreams into reality. I also enjoy sharing travel tips, language skills, and everything I’ve learned while living in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, Australia, Indonesia and now exploring the world.

I’m always excited to learn new cultures, new foods, new perspectives. I believe every person has something unique to teach, and I try to carry those lessons with me.

And what I share the most is energy: positivity, good stories, curiosity, and a deep belief that kindness can change the world, one small connection at a time.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share good energy, meaningful conversations, and stories from a life that started in the Brazilian Amazon and is now taking me around the world. I bring a mix of curiosity, respect, and gratitude everywhere I go.

I can also share:
• Brazilian culture, especially from my home — Marajó Island
• Travel stories from Brazil, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia and beyond
• Language exchange (Portuguese, English practice, cultural insights)
• Photography & video tips — I’m a content creator and love helping people show their world in a beautiful way
• Cooking simple Brazilian dishes and sharing local snacks from my travels
• A positive mindset, kindness, and the belief that every connection matters

More than anything, I can share presence being a respectful guest, helping when needed, and leaving your home a little bit better than I found it.
