Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I heard about this through my friend and although I am not able to host people at my place, I am willing to bring people around my hometown if our schedule meets :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've not played host to anyone. But I've met up with many friendly locals (with great experiences, of course!) from the following places:
- Budapest, Hungary
- Prague, Czech Republic
- Vienna and Graz, Austria
- Luzern, Switzerland
- Hamburg, Germany
And surprisingly, I managed to organise a CS meeting in Luzern for the month of June 2011 :)
Interests
Travelling: Of course! Travelling opens up the mind and brings about new experiences for the individual. It's nice to travel out and learn new cultures
Music: Music is the universal language of the world. I love all kinds of music, especially those of languages different from my own. Pop and R&B are what I usually listen, but I like jazz, classical and a bit of here and there. Not into heavy metal, though.
The Arts: Theatre plays, musicals, operas... there are some of the things that makes me realise that there's more to life than our mundane lives!
Photography: I believe that a picture speaks a thousand words and by capturing events and sceneries, it brings out the beauty of the moment.
Reading: Reading is another way of opening up our minds. I do not read as much as I wish I did, but I still try to keep up.
Sports: Well, not the biggest sports fan in the world, but I like running, swimming and bowling. I grew fond of ice-skating recently.
Others: I like surfing online, meeting new people, (window-)shopping and going for great parties!

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: "Singin' In The Rain", "Billy Elliot", "Spider-Man". And anything arthouse. Recently into Iranian movies. Not into science fiction.
Music: Pop, Rock, R&B, World, Jazz, Classical. Mainly these few
Books: "Memoirs of a Geisha" by Arthur Golden. Nicholas Sparks' books are great tear jerkers!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Despite my love to plan my itineraries to the very minute, I took a risk and booked a trip with Anywhr Surprise Travel (www.anywhr.co) and let the travel agency surprise me. And I started to plan only when I found out where I was going at the airport.
It was a great experience, as I've learn to let go and go with the flow at times.
Teach, Learn, Share
I like to plan my itineraries and I'm a little crazy about it, so I usually plan my days well. I guess that might help if we need to know what to do and where to go at the right moment within a certain time.
I studied Hotel and Tourism Management at IMI University Centre in Switzerland (accredited by Manchester Metropolitan University, UK), so I have background knowledge of the industry.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My knowledge of my country, Singapore and a little about the region, especially South East Asia. And a lot of fun!
