About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Please don't trust the profile ... it needs some work - and I'll get to it in a week or so. :)

ABOUT ME

I dislike questions where I am required to shrink my life to a paragraph or two.

As you might well discover in the following sections ... Ok, I might say one thing here - apparently I talk too much:).

PHILOSOPHY

I have quite a few. Studying philosophy might do that to you:). Though I don't think they are connected to that fact much.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For the time being I am limited to surfing and showing my city to people (going for drinks or sth.). I really can't host yet, but I hope that that will change soon. (I really felt quite bad about it, but after my first "tour" I realised that it really isn't about the cheap/free acomodation and that hosting/surfing is quite a mutual and simetric relation).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I went out with a couple of surfers that were staying at my friends flat. She told me about the project itself. I decided to create an account of my own. I do not have a couch available though. I live with my parents and untill they move to the flat above (wich always seems to be right around the corner) I can't really host anyone. And after that I'll be able to provide lodging occasionally too. (I already am - but do try your luck in January or later). Otherwise I've been surfing through the south of France last couple of summers - and that was the experiance of a lifetime. Since than I showed my city to some surfers too (a tourist guide by heart - apparently:)

Interests

I like what I am studying (philosophy) - though not in the probably stereotipical way. Let's say I like to think:).
I like sports. I can passively partake at almost any sport. I.E.: sit infront of a TV and watch with enthusiasm - it takes a skill so I emphasise: with enthusiasm:). Besides passively I also like numerous sports on a more active level. Handball, volleybal and beach volley, basketball, football and also chess:) (and while in Belgium ... uni-hoc - really a nice and dynamic as well as interresting and rather exhausting sport).
I like people that know how to make music (play an instrument or sing). Myself - I am quite tone death - though I started to sing in a choir last year. It's really great:). I'm sure I am quite awful, yet it seems I'm tolerable ... Really not in it for the musical part - it's just a great group of people and I love being with them.
When it comes to popular music, I don't distinguish much. I listen to mostly everything and take no great pleasure in anything.
I love to travel and I love to do it CS-way. I love not having a tight schedule and being able to do what I want, go see what I want, stay there for how long I want. It's also nice to travel in groups or even better with close friends but there is a special kind of freedom in being alone. I can't seem to live without my camera, eventhough I strongly feel that I have a much better time when I am not using it, savouring the moment which will not be declined it's decay in time.
Reading the last few lines - poetry comes to mind. I am not a poet but my mind taking some hints from God knows where tries to put ideas of that sort into my head:) So a poet by soul maybe:)
I am by now quite exhausted already - so I'd only like to mention one final interest. Dancing. Not clubing (I feel rather awful in clubs, though I do it sometimes, just like McDonald's - a strange feeling indeed:). I like dancing in pair. Those classical dances like valse, cha cha, rumba, tango, foxtrot ...
There are obviously more interests than that, but as I could write about myself among other things that I am lazy, I feel I have exceded already my usual quota:)

yes - I do tend to talk (too) much at times :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Uau ... now that's a question. Instead of giving it too much thought I'll just write down, three good of each (in no particular order).
Movies: La vita e bella, Shakespeare in love, Godfather
Music: Canon in D (Pachlbel), Wild Horses (N. Bedingfield), The Last of the Mohicans (T. Jones/R. Edelman; soundtrack)
Books: Crime and Punishment (F. M. Dostoyevski), Animal Farm (G. Orwell), Sherlock Holmes books (Sir A. C. Doyle)

Update: It is fun to look back at what I wrote about a year ago. And when I think about what I would answer today I see, that I am getting more and more sucked up into my studies. (I am still deciding whether I like that or not.) Today the books I read and really like are more and more literature for my courses, movies I really like are connected to that as well and though I still listen to quite a wide variety of music I seem to be leaning more and more towards jazz.

Update 2: (I should probably clear the above, but I might keep a journal of some sort ... ). Today I really wouldn't want to answer this question. You can find something in anything. Look for it long enough and you'll learn to appretiate it, maybe even learn to like it ...

Update 3: Really talk to much. :) ...
