I recently graduated from Skidmore College (Upstate NY) with an Economics degree. I studied Russian for a year and a half while in college and am traveling through Russia to improve my language skills and meet plenty of new people along the way. I am new to couchsurfing but I am a curious traveler who is open to trying new things (especially new foods), seeing new places and of course meeting great people along the way!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing to meet new people from all over the world who I otherwise would not have gotten the chance to meet if I had stayed in a hotel.

Interests

When I have free time, I love to play music (guitar and bass mainly) with friends - I have been in two bands in the past few years. I am constantly listening to new music and finding new bands (thanks Spotify) too. I'd love to play music or listen to some new music with you.

I also like sports, hockey is my favorite. I played with my three brothers since I was little and still love to play. I also watch the NHL, my favorite team is the Pittsburgh Penguins. I am also big into skiing, although I don't ski as much as I'd like to because it takes a lot of time and I don't live close to many good mountains. Of course I also like soccer (football) and mainly watch Premier League, Liverpool.

Teach, Learn, Share

I try to approach every new encounter with the mentality that there is no one right way to do things, so I love learning about other people's cultures and seeing how they do things differently, not better, not worse, just different. If you are interested, I can share some of my American culture with you whether that be music, movies, cooking and food, sports or even English language. It seems a lot of people on couchsurfing are looking to improve their language skills, so I'd be happy to help with that.

Of course, I am also happy to try to teach guitar and bass too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cultural exchange; show me a good, cheap place to eat and I will buy your dinner, the least I can for you opening up your home to me, also willing to cook an American dish if you want :)
