Hi

I am from Scotland and recently moved to Palma de Mallorca where I recently retrained as a Chef after many years working behind the bar. The past ten years I have had some truly great experiences working in New York, Italy, London and Ibiza, learning many great things, becoming more aware of myself and the world and also meeting some amazing people along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couch-surfing just now as I am in a bit of a transitional period. I recently left my apartment in Palma as I intend to start work on board a boat as a chef very soon, hopefully the beginning or middle of April. To save money, and because once I find work, I will live on the boat. I have been volunteering on a farm doing general labour work and cooking in exchange for free accommodation.

It is really beautiful here, and being with all the animals is great. However, it is far away from the city and if I am to start work soon i need to be in the city centre so I can meet people for interviews etc quickly.

I may also have to do 1 or 2 weeks 'free work' in a restaurant to boost my experience which means I wouldn't be paid but would gain valuable knowledge to put on my CV.

Therefore, Im looking for somewhere that I can bunk down while I sort my stuff out. I'm more than happy to cook and help out around the house or whatever you may need help with. Im laid back, respect peoples living arrangements and have a good sense of humour. I like the usual, time with friends, good food, music, good times.

Interests

I am interested in quite a wide range of subjects, working in a bar for many years taught me a thing or two about many things. Right now, I am really interested in food, also, I love football and could talk about it forever if I was allowed. Although, I know not everyone shares the same enthusiasm so only talk about it with people who are interested. I like all other sports as well, (except cycling) I keep up to date with whats going on around the world. I like good writing that I can spend time reading. Music on a great sound system. Going to the beach, caña's, sunshine and snow.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music from my country, Mogwai, Primal Scream etc. Stuff from the nineties, house music. Well thought and constructed. Not a snob however, have my own guilty pleasures as well.

Movies, so many to choose from. I kind of go through phases with actors or directors.

I love Bill Bryson books as he is the first person that made laugh while reading.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm pretty happy with where I am right now, even though I'm in a transitional period. I have always tried to stay true to who I am and what I believe in and I think if you do that, great things always happen and things you can be proud of.
