About Me

Hey :)
I am a natural science student from Vienna, Austria, loving bikes, kajak and the nature. Remote places are my destination. Water and ist modifications as snow are literally my elements. I am intersted in all natural process concerning water. Water is also my major field of study at the university. As early as a small kid I build barriers on creeks and rivers, got fascinated from their power and beauty. This obsession is never gone away. Sitting on a river and listen to the stream is still amazing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

If someone asks me where I want to stay and I have the choice between hotel, trailer, tent or private apartment I would always prefer the tent. But I am getting older and I should take care of my backbone and at least after many day sleeping on the ground I cannot reject the offer of a cozy apartment.

Music, Movies, and Books

We have a radio station in Austria called FM4. I never turn it off.
If they stop playing music one day, I would listen to Portugal The Man, The Black Keys, Friska Viljor, Arcadefire and many other of that line. I shouldn't forget Roy Orbinson. Old but still good.
Bookstores are the places I want to get stuck. The higher the shelves the more comfortable I feel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in Morocco I had the chance to sleep in the dessert. My friend and I took one of these overcrowded trucks to get to the last settlement before the landscape turns the surroundings into a vast landscape built of sand. We reached the edge of the Sahara. The small village seemed to be empty, deserted. Windows were covered by boards and racks behind the showcases of the few grocery stores empty or buried under a tarp. Until we met a woman heading to a building at the end of the street we thought we were alone. We recognized that she wasn't a local. A couple of hours later we were sitting on an camel, riding towards the interior of Sahara. There was just sand around us. You can say that's something many of people do in their life. You can travel to Egypt, book a guided camel tour, wander for a half day in the dessert, touch some dunes and return to the civilizations. It was nothing of that kind of trip. Not at all. We were alone with the lady and her boyfriend from Morocco. They were on their way to Timbuktu and we had the opportunity to join them for two days. Sleeping outside, looking to the stars at the sky and enjoy the whistling sound of the wind blowing along the dunes, is just one of the great moments we had.
The trip in the Sahara was definitely one of the most amazing things I have done.

Teach, Learn, Share

The deeper in the forest the more you feel alive. To get aware how amazing this world is you have to leave the civilization. Go to our roots and you will say thank you.
