About Me

Hi I'm Max. I'm from the USA but have been abroad since 2013, living in Taiwan for nearly two years and traveling in a few countries in Asia.
I love to travel. Why? I love the humbling experiences of being in a new place or culture. I will always be a student of life and so far traveling has been my favorite classroom.
I'm also still a student of Mandarin Chinese - would love to have the chance to practice more;
I am at home with the healing arts;
I do a unique style of Indian massage therapy, and most recently I've mixed it with sound healing techniques I learned in Nepal;
In Taiwan I studied at a Tea & Meditation center, where I learned to offer meditative, relaxing tea ceremonies. Tea is a part of my life and spiritual practice;
I enjoy talking about Hindu and Buddhist philosophy, travel (of course), and anything healing-related.
I practice staying humble to life and all people and moments I meet; there is a lesson for me everywhere and I'm open to learning.
I also love sharing everything I learn. I can't help it :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people and share kindness, stay humble and learn from a place through real relationships, which is how I like to travel.

Interests

Yoga, meditation, tea, Chinese language, healing of any kind, music, art.
Nature: hiking, swimming, walking, getting lost on a scooter

Music, Movies, and Books

I love traditional music from around the world, and anything meditative. Like Indian classical, Chinese and Japanese music, etc. love finding new music.
I'll be embarrassed if we talk about movies - I like them but never watch them and am almost clueless about movies.
I mostly read books about spiritual or inspirational topics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Taught myself photography and contributed to a worldwide magazine in Taiwan as photographer, editor and writer.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to share/teach what I know on tea, massage yoga/meditation. Would love to practice speaking mandarin, or any language :)
