Hey there! I'm Max – a curious, warm-hearted soul from Germany, currently living in Taiwan. I'm a software engineer focused on AI automations, and a lifelong learner passionate about personal growth, cultures, and meaningful conversations. I am a perpetual traveler and digital nomad in that sense, but like to live in different places and learn the language and culture for long periods. So I haven’t been to that many places yet for travelling 3+ years.

After hitchhiking and couchsurfing through Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic, and exploring Thailand, Laos, and the Himalayas, I've found a bit of a home base here in Taiwan temporarily. I’m learning Chinese and building an online brand around learning and meta-skills.

Philosophically, I draw a lot from Buddhism, Stoicism, and the ups and downs of life itself. I value honesty, openness, and warmth. I try to bring that energy into every encounter. I have a passion for personal development. For a while, I explored being polyamorous and panromantic 🏳️‍🌈 Nowadays, I just try to stay connected, honest, and grateful for the relationships I have.

Hosting Setup
After co-hosting with my roommate Yao Liu before. I took over the apartment while he is Turkey to host Couchsurfers in the apartment near Kaohsiung International Airport (don’t worry, it’s quiet!). I am currently working and studying chinese at a language school at the same time. So I am usually too busy to show you all the places in Kaohsiung personally, but I can give you all the recommendations you need and give you a chill environment. I really enjoy spending the evening with guests, eating together, sharing stories and experiences, playing boardgames etc. I am not a local, but got to know a lot about Taiwanese culture in my time here and share my experience as a Foreigner living in Taiwan, while slowly reaching a level of functional fluency in Chinese.

I have a cozy guest room with a large mattress (great for couples), and sometimes an extra setup in the living room if needed. It’s a perfect place to rest, explore Kaohsiung on your own, or slow down for a few days. Please NOTE, I am a very active host, so there might be other guests and people staying/coming to my place. So far it’s been great for everyone, but sometimes there is less privacy if multiple people sleep in the living room. I generally give the private room for new guests and let you know, if I can only other you the couch in the living room.

I am also often busy with work, study etc. It’s important for me to keep my sleeping schedule fixed, so at 9pm I‘ll start to wind down. Please keep that in mind that I won’t be available past 9pm at I can’t let you into the apartment after 10pm 🙏
