ABOUT ME

I love to travel and learn new languages and cultures while doing so. I lived in China for two years after graduating from college, worked in Chicago for two years after that, and am now taking four months off (09/11 - 01/12) to travel in South America and study Portuguese before starting work in Sao Paulo in January, 2012. I'm a mix of a math nerd and a hopeless romantic who thinks that everyone has their own story and skills. I'm trying to learn from as many people as I can while having a great time doing it.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't take yourself too seriously, but live with purpose. Do what you love. Always try to make people feel wanted and cared about, and try your hardest to maximize the happiness of those with whom you journey through life.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed a bit in Indonesia and had a great experience. I went dormant for a bit while I was in Chicago, but am back on the map for the next four months in South America. I hope to be able to reciprocate some of the amazing hospitality I have been shown over the years during my time in Brazil.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I moved to China not knowing a word of Chinese or a speck of the culture. My two years there worked out pretty well and I'm very proud of my level of Chinese, which was hard work to achieve.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I can share some travel/cultural tips for Asia, especially China. I can teach folks a bit of the languages that I know, and am also a bit of a computer/Excel nerd, should that be of use. I'd like to learn anything and everything.
