Présentation
À propos de moi
I'm an avid traveler who is new to couchsurfing (despite having signed up many years ago). I'm definitely an explorer and adventurer at heart, always looking to find a different angle on things. Currently residing in Toronto, Canada, I work as a part time grant writer for an NGO while I try to figure out how to use my degree in public health. I studied for my degree in Cape Town, South Africa which is like another home/paradise to me. I'm passionate about many things, and I love meeting new people and seeing new places!
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing seems like the best way to meet people who know the reality of the place I am traveling. I would much rather know what it is like to live in a place from the people that live there, than from a guidebook! I think couchsurfing brings me the opportunity to see what each place that is foreign to me has to offer :)
Centres d'intérêt
Exploring, both new places and my own city. I also love to read. Occasionally I have bursts of creativity that can only be cured by crafting. I love the wilderness, having grown up in the country. I enjoy hiking, as much as I enjoy beaches, as much as I enjoy skiing. A HUGE tea drinker that is learning to enjoy a good cup of coffee. I bake or cook almost every day, and am gluten free by necessity so I 'enjoy' experimenting with that. I like eating organic when I can (aka when it doesnt make me broke). I also love steak, and not granola. Big fan of yoga, and a glass of wine. I love meeting interesting new people!

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
Some of my favourite books (which is nigh on impossible) include- Perfume, 1984, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, most things by Margaret Atwood or Terry Pratchett, On Human Bondage....I could go on.
Movies- anything from old Hitchcock like North by Northwest to the childish and animated like the Lego Movie. not picky there. I've also been a big Joss Whedon fan since childhood (Buffy especially)
Music- I was raised on classical where I always loved Chopin and Vivaldi, moved to top 40 where I was a Britney fan (who wasnt) went through a brief pop punk phase where I adored All Time Low, graduated into dubstep where I liked Avicii, through to softer EDM where Chet Faker was my go to guy (ok lets be real he still is), through to more indie stuff like Mumford, The Tallest Man, etc. and now im rediscovering a passion for punk with FIDLAR and others.
Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
Victoria Falls from both the Zimbabwe and Zambian side utterly blew my mind. Not only was it enormous, awe inspiring, different every day, wreathed in rainbows, and utterly spectacular, but the fact that I could walk out to the very edge, utterly lost in a thick mist that felt like pouring rain had something very spiritual and amazing about it. That and jumping off a cliff right next to the falls on a gorge swing and getting stuck because the generator went out.
Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes
I have a lot of random skills to teach. Ask me about development, health, women's and children's rights and I wont stop till you tell me. Book recommendations, tennis, travel plans...I think those are all things we can give and take from one another.
As for learning, I'm willing (and ready) to learn whatever you have to throw at me!
