I am a student, practicing artist, rat-lover, bicyclist, and concert enthusiast. I spend most of my time writing papers and reading art historical texts, but in my free time I either love to be productive with a DIY ethic or love to be reckless with no particular goal in mind.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I signed up with CS to give myself travel options when I spend two months abroad in Italy and France. I am open to hosting other travelers and allowing others to get the kind of experience I hope to obtain through this website.

Cooking (and trust me, I will cook for you), biking, Italian modernism and Dada, ukulele and banjo, maps, graffiti, Houdini, skeletal systems, Mitch Clem comics, and the Simpsons.

This tends to be the easiest of all these questions to answer. Music certainly stands above the rest in terms of pronounced interest. I tend to be open-minded, but personal listening sticks to a few genres. The music I listen to ranges from powerviolence and hardcore (Punch, Mammoth Grinder, Mind Eraser, Converge, Witch Hunt) to the more punk-influenced hardcore (Kid Dynamite, Paint it Black, Angry Samoans, MDC, Social Circkle) to new wave (Devo all the way) to folk-punk (Defiance Ohio, This Bike is a Pipe Bomb, Wingnut Dishwasher) to garage punk, 80s/90s punk, Wes Anderson soundtracks, etc etc. A few of my favorite bands are Jawbreaker, The Marked Men, Mina (the adorable Italian songstress), P.S. Eliot, and Descendents.

Books: I love picking up and making zines, but when it comes to literature I have an odd taste for Russian short story and a boatload of Orwell and Vonnegut.

Movies: Neo-realist Italian movies tug my heart-strings, as well as any Fellini film. Also very into Chaplin and Wes Anderson films. My personal collection, however, is limited to TV series DVDs like The Simpsons and Boy Meets World and VHS tapes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and O Brother Where Art Thou. I will love any movie that has Steve Buscemi.
