About Me

I spent my childhood in Mexico and immigrated to the U.S at the age of 11 where I have lived since then.

At the moment, I am traveling all over the world for a year conducting a project I've been wanting to do for a very long time: listening, collecting, and writing about women's life stories.

I find stories invaluable because they are a fantastic way to share knowledge that arises out of individual lived experiences. Stories also have the ability to hold memory and generational wisdom. It is for this reason that I believe listening to women’s life stories is an inherently transformative process. Highlighting women’s voices privileges a particular type of narrative that is often overridden, attributes value to their narratives, acknowledges the wealth of knowledge they carry, and commemorates their day-to-day struggles and victories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet great local women who can give me a feel of their daily lives and insight into the place they call home.

I am also hoping to connect with women and/or organizations that would be interested in participating in my project.

Interests

I'm interested in stories, community spaces, and anything having to do with people. I really like to dance, take classes of any kind, watch documentary films, and spend entire days in parks.

I'm also trying to learn how to cook and build an archive of delicious recipes, so let's cook!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I created two series of workshops on feminism and first-generation college experience with a fantastic friend that we taught to groups of young female students at our old high school.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share with you my own stories of immigration, growing up Mexico in my grandma's house, going to college in the U.S, and studying one semester in Europe.
