About Me
Hello! I'm Mayya. I'm a kind person who loves to share, learn and spend time with others. I am a massive extrovert and need people around me 24/7. But they don’t even need to talk to me; I get the most energy from being in the same space with someone, but all doing our own thing (reading, drawing, gardening…). I love animals and would be at my happiest anywhere that has them. I have really strong ADHD which makes me very fun!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have made three wonderful friends so far by hosting. It is so refreshing to be received by a friendly face that is happy to have you in their home and show you around. I find that some people that use Couchsurfing have such a pure soul that it is a pleasure to be around them. On Couchsurfing, I get a local experience, immediately make new friends in the place I am visiting, and actually enjoy the place I'm visiting. I want to stay in a home with a story, rather than a hotel that is scrubbed of all personality after every guest. If I can associate a place with the nice people I met there, I tend to have better memories.
We are all human, connected and share a planet. When I host, I enjoy offering my place to people. They bring me their personality and experience, and sometimes they even make me discover new places that I would have never thought about visiting.
Interests
I place a lot of focus on my health and fitness. My favourite sports are pole dancing (which is now a lifestlye), squash, survival running (a Dutch sport) and cycling. I love the idea of adventure sports and it's something on my bucket list. I love being in nature, but my energy levels are chronically low, so I don’t usually walk but cycle, and small distances (20 km max) at a time. I also love dancing of any kind, aerial and circus arts.
I appreciate good design and architecture, especially ex-soviet and communist. I love to spend a nice afternoon laying in a hammock reading.
As a person I am strong on social justice and have strong morals that I don’t bend for anything. I study sustainability (taking a break now) from the social side: human rights, the effects of climate change on people, political and economic systems, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books
Finding new music is one of my favourite things. If you can show me new music I like I'll be super happy. I have a very diverse taste, I listen to most stuff: drum & bass, techno, indie, rock, pop, metal. I'm actually doing a reverse emo where I discovered metal at 24 and now it's most of what I listen to haha. My favourite genres are modern rock & metal.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I cycled 200 km down the Polish-German border and slept on the 7th floor of an abandoned building, suspended in a hammock 3 metres over the floor below me. I have pictures for anyone interested. The place is in Camping an der Oder, a very strange free campsite with abandoned derelict buildings next to it. The place looks like it was stuck in the 80s.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love teaching about sports, nutrition, physical and mental health and related topics.
I recently got into camping, hiking, etc, so any help and information about that will be greatly alpareciated.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Let me cook you some great food! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, I have recipes coming out of my ears. I'm an amazing cook. I mostly cook vegan/vegeterian.
