PHILOSOPHY

Let's stop all of this fighting and just get along!

Sometimes you have to get out of your box to help someone on their path.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have seen the benefits of this group who like to share and teach about traveling and life.

Thus, we have been able to make new friends during our breaks. Meeting new people and sharing a cup of tea and/or meal together is great fun.

Our hope is to Couchsurf more in the months to come. So far we have always provided food and/or supplies, shared our digital photography knowledge, and kept our area clean and organized. Plus we have shared our knowledge of the United States and higher education.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Being able to take the time to enjoy the scenery and wildlife has been one of the many benefits of sharing our lives with others.

Interests

When I was younger and in college, I worked for a couple of months as a nanny in Germany. It was sort of a quasi "Couchsurf" experience as I traded childcare and meal preparation for a place to stay.

Plus, McCoy and I volunteered at an organic farm in Arkansas fall 2010 for a couple of weeks that allowed us to pitch our tent near the farmers' vegetable processing shed. That too was sort of a similar experience through woof.org.

I am considered to be a homeschool / home school expert. Feel free to ask questions about this option if you like.

I too am looking for a way to make a little change in my grey hair days.

Music, Movies, and Books

We went to see Diana Ross perform in September 2011 at WinStar. It amazes me that she continues to perform in her 60's. McCoy was just amazed that she changed her dress 6 Xs which just seemed too much from his point of view.

During our October 2011 trip, we saw two shows in Pigeon Forge, TN. They were the Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Show and The Miracle. Both were great family entertainment. I recommend them both.

We also visited the West Tennessee Visitor's Center that had small displays about Blues Music, Cotton Production, etc. Thus, if you are in the area these are free exhibits with clean rest rooms.

While in Maryland we toured the Benjamin Banneker Museum and Historic Park in Oella/Catonsville, Maryland which also is a free small museum that celebrates the contributions of this first black American scientist.

In August 2012, we visited Gary, Indiana home of the Michael Jackson's family. There are many areas in Gary that need economic input. Do you have a business that could benefit this area?

December 2012 we spent the day in Pigeon Forge, TN. We went to the Hollywood Wax Museum, and we enjoyed it very much. However, I did not enjoy the features in the other building. It was not worth the extra money!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have traveled to 28 of the United States over my life. However, I have not had the opportunity to travel outside of the United States since the summer of 1973 before I graduated from high school.

We recently got our passports, and we plan to visit Canada in the next couple of years.

Teach, Learn, Share

I used to homeschool, and I also have taught at several colleges/universities/rec and parks centers/etc. We enjoy learning about our new digital camera, and we look for opportunities for photo shoots. I would love to learn about people who have small home based businesses. Plus, we both can help with desktop publishing projects that we could even email back and forth to folks if they would like someone to give them feedback on designs and layout as part of our shared experiences.
