About Me

CURRENT MISSION

For lent, i decided to give up how i see people, as in I am trying now to look beyond any physical charactersitics (beauty or the oppostite), almost be blind when i first meet or see people so that I can really see them for who they are. Also, escalators.

ABOUT ME

Generally, my friends would say that I am a nice person, a bit quarky with a really positive attitude. I love colors, the neoner the better. I am outgoing and need to be doing things all day. Honestly, my friends would probably be surprised that I am making a couch surfing account at all. I am a quieter person, but I am doing this as a way to grow personally and explore new cultures in a truly authentic way. I am excited to visit new places around the world while also striving to be less of a vacation tourist and instead get more of a genuine look at these cities and their cultures.

PHILOSOPHY

I have many and they seem to change by the month. Right now, I am just trying to squeeze every little bit of expience out what is thrown at me. I am always trying to better myself, learn new things, make myself uncomfortable, though sometimes i back down and do what is normal. I am trying to cut judgment out of my life completely and am striving to reach a point where i truly do not care what others think of me-a long shot. I live to laugh and be positive.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet so I am just getting started! A little nervous but I am really excited to see what it can offer me.

Interests

I love the outdoors and I am happiest when I can bask in the sun all day. Doing anything outside in the sun will make me happy, but I often chose to run, bike, hike, or just walk around. I also love to clean, kitchens especially, don't ask me why. I love music and do everything with my ipod in hand. I also like to read and i lovee to eat! I love laughing and smiling, I do that a lot. And i love company-hate being alone. I want to share everything with everyone i can. In terms of culture, I am a history major at school and so I especially love old monuments, castles, any bit of history that a city has to offer.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music! I love indie rock and the Spice Girls; i love Van Morrison and Ellie Goulding, the Wombats and LMFAO, i love it all-except country music.
Books are fun too- tend to like the devestatingly romantic and sad ones like Atonement, Tristan and Isolde; also love Raul Dahl becuase he is pretty freakin cool.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am a camp counsellor in California during the summers and I have had a lot of awe inspiring moments there. I have the fun and carefree ones like skydiving and gorge jumping, but the ones that have really affected me have to do with the kids who attend camp. The Foundation kids, the ones who are sponsored to come to camp and are chosen from the poorest towns in Los Angeles, have impacted me the most. Spending two weeks with these kids has changed my life; they have shown me how it feels to actually have an impact on someone's life and how that impact can be the simple result of giving a child your time and your heart. I only felt the impact of the love that we shared at end of camp. Kids cry at the end of each camp session all the time, but when these kids that I had grown so close to cried when I had to leave a day early, it was awe-inspiring. These kids were not crying becuase they were going to miss the pool or the mini golf; they cried, and I cried, becuase we would not see each other ever again, becuase we would both miss our time together, the friendship bracelets we made for each other, the end of session dance that I spent helping these kids ask their crushes to dance, or any of our other invaluable experiences.Becuase of these kids and the experiences I shared with them, I plan on being a teacher in the urban school system, a job that is wide open year after year. But I am so excited to start working with kids like the ones at camp and to discover what other posiblities and challenges they will to offer me. This series of experiences has shaped the next chapter of my life and that is pretty awe-inspiring to me.
