About Me

NOTE: I am currently recovering from foot surgery. That means I have very limited mobility and will most likely not be able to spend time with guests while they explore the city. I am also unable to drive for the same reason.

CURRENT MISSION: To host as many people as it takes to get me to clean my house on a regular basis!

I am a Canadian - here since 1999. I enjoy meeting travelers from all over. I love talking about how to travel frugally. We travel frequently ourselves - mostly international

PLEASE NOTE: I am not likely to host you if you are new and don't take CS seriously. If you can't put together a decent profile, don't request my couch. I generally don't host people who don't host. BUT... I make exceptions for true travelers. If you are one of those, please request. I will know who you are. :-)

Here is my hosting calendar: http://bit.ly/1AeIGek

1. I am a vegan.
2. Halef is mostly vegetarian. :-)
3. We only host people with CS profiles.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

We host a lot. Over 420 people since 2009. I try to get to all the Atlanta events. On weekends, I like to show guests around the city. I am a CS Ambassador. I offer members help in creating profiles/writing requests. I answer questions about Couchsurfing. If I can't help you, I'll find someone who can!

I often organize CS meet-ups, including an annual CS Thanksgiving Dinner, occasional ventures to interesting restaurants, and a Super Bowl party.

Atlanta Couch surfers meet weekly on Tuesday night at 8pm at Ormsby's.

Interests

I like politics and lean left because that is where the truth usually is. I am an atheist. I love animals and I don't eat them. I despise factory-farming and slaughterhouses.

Music, Movies & Books

Favorite movies are Stand By Me and The Shawshank Redemption

One Amazing Thing I've Done

I hiked a crater on Mt. Kiluaea in Hawaii. I sang the national anthem at a pro baseball game in Toronto. I saw a naked guy with a scrotum the size of a cantaloupe on a secluded beach in Hawaii. I have photographic evidence. (Oh puleeze... You would have taken the photo, too!)

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I play guitar. I've brewed beer. I used to make wine. I know enough about it to help get you started. I know a little about cooking.
Learn: I've become fairly good with my Digital SLR. But if you know photography, especially underwater, more than I do - which isn't saying much - I would probably love you.
Share: Sharing is for commies and hippies!

Cooking / Food: I also LOVE to learn how to cook different food. I have been shown foods by Chinese, Japanese, German, and Tunisian guests. If you have a good vegan recipe from your home country, and if we can find the ingredients here in Atlanta, I would LOVE to make it with you!!

What I Can Share With Hosts

I'm a good cook! There's that. I can also give you good advice on how to be a good host (I've done it about 425 times!). Well, at least stuff that's worked for me. :-)
