About Me

I am a music student-turned-world-traveler who is currently on a gap year from my undergrad. I have slept on the couches of friends and family across Ireland, Germany, France, and Italy, and always love to return the favour. I'm a hostel veteran, but sometimes find myself in a pickle and desperate for a place to stay (how I manage to accidentally be in a city on a big night I have no idea). I've been to Germany 4 times (two of which were on purpose) and believe that it's not an adventure until you've gotten lost. I am NOT into the party/clubbing scene, but I definitely enjoy a glass of wine (or cocktails!) paired with good conversation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Many people that I have met in hostels have recommended this community to make the most out of really getting to know the people in whatever country you happen to be visiting. Because although the monuments and landscapes are amazing, it's the interactions you have with people that give you the memories that last you a lifetime. I want to know more about a place than its reputation - I want to see how the locals live, and why they love their home. And sometimes I'm just desperate for a place to sleep that night. Not gonna lie. But you'll at least get some kind of dessert out of it!

Interests

The fact that I'm traveling Europe for the food more than the museums.....but I also love history, cathedral architecture, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, bicycling, harmonizing with people, cooking, tea (and coffee, but mostly tea!) old movies, and classic literature. Also wine (not beer, though), and the different cultural approaches to alcohol!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trolltunga! Whooo!!!

Teach, Learn, Share

what makes a place special? why do the people who live there love it so much? How do I immerse myself in the culture without being a tourist? why is Canada so awesome? How is it you can find home among friends you haven't even met? Tea and scones, anyone?

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you have never tried Canadian pancakes (with or without bacon) you haven't lived. Let me show you the ways. Ever wanted to know what it's like to work in an English pub? Look no further. Need an excuse to visit Canada? Never knew you wanted to go there? Not sure how Canada is different from the States? Well, no more!
