About Me

I am a passionate and spontaneous being. I have dabbled in the performing arts my whole life and have found solace in the operatic arts. Ballet and theatre both have special places in my heart as well. I am interested in small businesses, especially those owned by women. I am detail orientated and a perfectionist, it is a curse but yet a blessing. I have great appreciation for interesting conversations and intriguing people. Growing up in the winelands district of Cape Town, taught me to treasure good food and even better wine. Exploring and going on all kinds of adventures bring me immense joy. I believe animals should be rescued, because they deserve it. I am open-minded and find different views on life fascinating.

My words - ambitious, creative, mindful, kind, eccentric.

I believe that everyone should embrace who they truly are and just be merry.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Learning about and embracing different cultures is an integral part of travelling for me. I have recently started travelling abroad, although I have travelled quite a bit on the African continent. I am embarking on my first European adventure and I would like to fully immerse myself in the European culture. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life, and I think Couchsurfing will be an enriching experience in this regard. I do not want to just do the 'tourist things,' but rather uncover the local gems and listen to age old anecdotes.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I believe all music can be appreciated BUT opera is my first love. And yes, I do also listen to alternative, pop, indie, jazz and so on and so forth. Film music is always welcome, especially if it's Hans Zimmer.

Movies - I am not such a good 'rememberer' of film titles, but off the top of my head, Moulin Rouge is pretty good. Harry Potter and Pirates of The Caribbean is always a hoot, mostly because of their soundtracks. The Office (US) is my ultimate favourite TV show.

Books - Again, those pesky titles. Historical fiction is great, or anything with a story line that is well written and can teach me something. Ingrid Jonker is my favourite Afrikaans poet and I went through a strong Charles Bukowski phase.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I started a tutoring company that specialises in assisting special needs students in main stream schools. I strive to motivate and encourage those around me to embrace themselves every step of the way. 'Nourish to flourish' is the mantra I share to take your day from meh to AMAZING. I also worked with orphans in Africa, but this should not be seen as something 'amazing' because I learnt so much more from them than I could ever offer. I rescued all my feline babies, but let's be honest, they probably rescued me more. All in all, being amazing is great, but being fabulous is so much better.
