Hi, I'm Benjamin and originally from Germany. I’m a professor in sociology and currently travelling around Japan to recover from that ;-)

In the past I lived in Paris for about 8 months travelled the States, Northern Africa, Brazil and Europe (mostly UK, France and Italy). I'm a very affable and sociable guy who likes to get to know people from other parts of the world. I'm an open minded individual who likes to discuss practically any matter in life (art, philosophy, politics, food ...).

My philosophy is nothing weirdly spiritual, rather a bit Kantian: Be nice if you want to be treated nice! Try out new stuff as long as you can!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

If travelling is about meeting new people and diving into other people's lifeworlds, then sleeping on the couch of strangers seems like the best way to do this. :)

Interests

Languages, sociology/philosophy, huge fan of chess & board games, reading, writing, poetry, football, music (from jazz via metal music to skandinavian electronica), movies and especially british comedy, eating & cooking. Lately, I got into bouldering and hiking.
