About Me

Hi! I'm a young professional from Indiana with a love for traveling!

I grew up several places in the midwest (IL, MI, IN), but now live and work in a small town in northern Indiana. Its not where I pictured myself living, but its a good life, and close enough to airports and cities to indulge my travel bug every so often.

I studied marketing and accounting and earned bachelor of science degrees in those fields from Grace College in Winona Lake, IN. I also used almost all my electives on journalism classes because writing has been my passion forever.

I work at Zimmer Biomet, one of the top five orthopedic companies globally, as an accountant and I have contracts to write freelance for TopResume and ZipJob, companies that provide clients with custom professional resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles. I also recently started a business, Spero Personal Marketing, with a good friend. Spero is also a resume writing company, and the goal is to eventually be able to do that full time.

I am in a committed relationship with my significant other, James, and I enjoy spending lazy evenings with him on the deck looking at the stars and keeping warm by a fire. In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, spending time with friends, hiking, biking, camping, taking dance lessons, and riding and caring for horses.

Favorite trips so far:
-Scotland, 2014
-Boston, 2016 & 2017
-Northport, MI, 2018
-Niagara Falls, ON, 2018
-Quebec City, QC, 2017 & 2018
-NYC, 2019
-And anything that involves Lake Michigan or Northern Michigan!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A friend told me she had a great experience couch surfing, and since I'm trying to balance paying my bills, reducing student debt, and indulging the travel bug, I thought it sounded like a good option for future trips.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One summer during college, I was working a job that drained the life out of me, but not making enough to take off on long fancy trips. To counteract my growing frustration, I took off almost every weekend for Michigan.

You know how the lower part of the state of MI is in the shape of a mitten, surrounded by the Great Lakes? Well, MI has the most lighthouses of any state in the US. That summer I camped and road tripped (sometimes alone, sometimes with friends) my way around the mitten, visiting almost every lighthouse on the mitten. I gained a ton of confidence, and fell in LOVE with northern MI (and put thousands of miles on my car...).

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach writing, including how to write a good resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile. I have also tutored accounting and really enjoyed it. I also am Intermediate in Russian and can teach that.

I really want to learn French, Spanish, Arabic, and Chinese. My goal isn't to be perfect in the language, but to be easily at a conversational level. I believe knowing other languages allows you to engage with the world with more depth and opens the door to the lives of people you would never be able to interact with otherwise. I also want to learn SEO optimization and SEO content creation.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share stories, cooking and recipes, and a love of music, books, and travel, along with help with resumes and Russian.
