About Me

Ni hao, Helloooo, Nong hao, Coucou!!!

I’m currently working in a tech company. But I don’t know much about high tech or computer engineering though since I’m a business development salesperson. High pressure so I often get off work at 7pm:( But I love my job because I can go on business trips every month XD

🚦Sorry boys but currently I only host girls or couples to stay with me! Cuz my place is pretty small and I feel more comfortable with gurls… But I’m open to everyone to have a drink and share stories!
(This is not a dating app though)

I did most of my backpacking travels in 2023-2024, that was a gap year for my small world trip. One thing about me is that I am terrible at orientation and direction but I managed to still be alive with my Google maps and Amap after more than 25 countries, 200 cities and towns😆 So yes, I am grateful to everyone in this world who has helped me, and I believe that most people are kind by nature. It is trust that makes the world a better place.

As a person who has been living in Shanghai for 22 years and at the same time travels quite a lot, I have to say in my opinion Shanghai is the best city in the world in my opinion. I don’t want to be cocky but you will see how nice it is!
(Except the lockdown lol)

Check my photos: backpacking around the world, hanging out with my friends/couch-surfers etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Before Covid my life was so basic: eat, sleep, work and repeat. Then I suffered so much for half a year during Shanghai lockdown. My attitude towards life changed: enjoy your life, you never know when the next lockdown will be.
Post-COVID makes everyone more insecure. I want to rebuild trust between strangers.
I want to share my experience and stories to my new friends!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Flew a plane over Mount Blanc with a couch surfing friend(miss ya Kenny!)

Saw the Northern lights in Russia and Southern lights in New Zealand.

Took a metro in DTLA by myself, there was a power outage and I was stuck in the middle of the tunnel. I walked out of the tunnel with the “metro residents” without being mugged.

Two lions were 0.3 meters away from me in Kenya. Stepped on a yellow giant snake and nearly got bitten when hiking in Japan countryside.

Climbed up to the crater of Bromo and Ijen in Java Indonesia.

Caught an e-bike thief in my campus

Survive in Shanghai covid lockdown and protest against lockdowns.

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak mandarin, Shanghainese and English. Learning French

I'm a Shanghai local and I've been living in SH for 22 years. If I am not able to host or hangout, here are some local untouristy places I recommend for second-time visit travelers (if you wanna travel like a local; if you have already planned everything, skip this part):
1, Lanling Flower and Bird Market 岚灵花鸟市场
highly recommended! Packed, a market selling pets and potted plants, you can even see small stores selling aquariums;

There is a ghost market in Juqicheng mall in the market on Friday morning. (It's best to arrive early. It opens at 5 a.m. and closes around 10 a.m.)
Guide to Exploring ghost market
2nd Floor - Retro Industrial Style
Main Focus: Film cameras / Vintage furniture / Yellowed posters / Out-of-print books
Bargaining Tip: Vendors might raise prices when they see foreigners asking for prices. Don't panic! Boldly offer half the price. You can get a CCD camera for just 60-90 yuan!
3rd Floor - Mysterious Vintage
Highlights: Republican-era jewelry / Old silverware / Antique ornaments / Carved wooden items

There’s also a vintage mall 10 mins away from Lanling Market, my fav place, I love thrift shopping
Location: 灵石路1197号

2,University Road 大学路
at night (recommended! There are a lot of young people there);
A city walk along Suzhou Creek from the Four Row
Warehouse四行仓库to the Henan Road Bridge河南路桥(better at sunset);
M50 Park (an art graffiti park, if you're an art person you will def like it);
Zhujiajiao and Qibao town.朱家角&七宝古镇in the suburbs, usually a weekend trip for SH locals.Try a strawberry picking experience in winter and early spring!
If you want to choose a restaurant through an app, you can download 大众点评. Check the ratings and reviews for every restaurant on the app!
If you wanna be even more local, try the recreations:
Onsen center (need to be naked in the public male/female pools)
SPA and foot massage;
role-playing drama(there’re English ones in SH).

Night life:
Bars- the shed, come out, c’s bar
Clubs- la Barra, la suite, le baron, revolution, muse penthouse
You probably heard about Ins, but I hate it so much, I would never recommend

Hostels:
If I’m not able to host and you are looking for a bed I would recommend the hostel 大隐 Dayin, great social environment but no alcohol parties

Feel free to ask me more if you are planning to visit!

What I Can Share with Hosts
