About Me
Hello, World!
I'm described occasionally as the unique one in the group of regular humans. Usually with the goofiest smile, the perspective to change a way of thought to the more positive side, a little ray of sunshine in almost any situation. And this sunshine caught the wanderlust bug.
I have not done much traveling as of yet, most of it has been in the last two years to which that included my first solo trip to Quebec; Gatineau, Tulum; Mexico with a girlfriend, West Virginia; Morgantown for my first couch surfing experience from a gentleman I met while in Mexico, first solo hostel experience in Nanimo; Vancouver Island and my latest adventure with my boyfriends family to Las Vegas; Nervada. Once you put it all down and in how short of a time span it has been I guess for a girl my age working full time that isn't too shabby! Alas, however, it only makes me want to travel more. And how better to travel than to know people and make connections and friends around the world?
I am told I am a great cook, and it's a trade I can take with me on the road no matter where I go. Although new ingredients could be an interesting experimentation! To learn unique cultures around the world is something i'm deeply interested about and have done so mostly vicariously though travel blogs, friends that have gone abroad or traveling shows such as Departures. (which is really good and I'd recommend as a nice easy to watch T.V show to get you motivated to move and explore.)
I've been stable and living in Maple Ridge almost all my life, spare one year I went to Campbell River, Vancouver Island and enjoyed island life not too far from the ocean side beach, what a great year that was. The mainland pull and the homesickness over time pulled me back, I was young. Since then i've maintained the same job (7 years and counting) in a little Italian bakery working my way up from pastry chef, to baker, cook, front server, front staff manager, head baker etc. I'm very proud of what I have achieved there and continued my skills into another new position else where. I am following the current idea I have of becoming a nutritionist, and experience the job, once again, from the bottom up as a dietetic assistant. It's pretty much a fancy way to say server in a old folks home, but the interaction I have is valuable. If you look for knowledge, it will always be there.
I'm focused on experiencing life to the fullest and trying to appreciate the little things, although my time restraints around work schedules make it hard right now to really go out and do a lot, it's all saving for my future career as well as traveling. I don't mind going cheap however, but it's always good to have a back up pillow to fall back on in case things don't go according to plan.
But the best way to learn about me other than reading a profile is to shoot me a message! I'm new at this couch surfing thing so I wouldn't mind to make acquaintances before jumping right in!
Hope to hear from you, World!
