Overview
About Me
Hi! This is Megan. I am currently a Master's student in History at the University of Cambridge in the UK, focusing on Imperial Japan and working-class labor history. I'm also doing a JD at Northwestern Law (I'm currently on a gap year); my specialization is family law, specifically anti-domestic abuse/intimate partner violence/child protection law. Though I am a boring academic by day, I moonlight as a tattoo artist; my forte is black and grey realism portraits, and was also receiving training in reconstruction tattoo work for breast cancer survivors. I grew up in Shanghai, Tokyo, and California; I've worked in almost all industries, such as tech, law, public policy, visual arts, body arts/modification, grassroots advocacy, K-12 education, etc. That said, I have pretty much seen everything, for better or worse. I have many, many wild stories, and I'm more than happy to share them with you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Since my research involves a lot of archival work, I often have to travel between the UK, the US, and Japan to investigate different archives. I'm excited to meet new friends everywhere and build new stories!
