About Me

CURRENT MISSION

eat some popcorn, with nutritional yeast

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in North Carolina and moved to Philly in 2011. I am a dancer and spend much of my time studying movement, taking class, rehearsing, improvising, teaching kids, and teaching yoga. I am also interested in infancy and early childhood and have worked off and on as a Nanny.

I currently live in with my husband, Paul, and our cat, Jackson, and four other beautiful humans.

I am on the quiet side, a little shy, but very willing to open up. I am a neat and conscientious guest, and working towards good habits in my own home as well.

It seems that lately the things that bring me the most joy are riding my bike and potluck dinners.

PHILOSOPHY

Here is a little gem that someone shared with me:

One morning, a student went to his guru and asked, "What is the purpose of life?" The guru said, "Have you had your breakfast yet?" "Yes," the student answered, and the guru replied, "Go and wash out your dish."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started couchsurfing when I was studying in France in 2008. I just needed a cheap place to stay, but it made my traveling experiences so much richer and started to shape some of the thoughts and philosophies that I find myself holding more and more dearly, and pursuing with increasing determination and enthusiasm- namely that life is richer when we don't live in fear of one another and give generously, that we can live and function outside of the marketplace more than common assumptions tell us we can, and that doing so gives us space to live more ease fully, joyfully, and abundantly.

Interests

I love to play!!!!! board games, card games, word games, silly made-up games, jumpingclimbingdancing games...
I am interested in permaculuture; pregnancy, birth, babies, and parenting; developmental movement; Body-Mind Centering; Yoga; Aikido; Contact Improvisation; shared living and community building

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to the Moon to work as a writer for the first guide book that was being written about a new development there. When I got there, I discovered that my mom had already lived there and we shared a bottle of wine in silence while we looked out over the empty, night-time moonscape. I mean, it was a dream, but it was pretty stunning.
