About Me

CURRENT MISSION

growing a nice beard... and a stache!

ABOUT ME

I have a second degree in German Language/Literature, Comparative Religion and Media Science from the University of Basel. But I as well studied at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem for one Year.

I worked (among others) as gardener, carpenter, teacher, child-care worker in India, backstage-manager, receptionist in the YMCA Hostel Basel, assistant at the dean´s office of University of Basel, IT consultant for a health project in Zambia and currently as marketing assistant for Art Basel.

I bought a Vespa in India and a donkey in Morocco, but usually I travel by bus, train, minibus or hitchhike.

PHILOSOPHY

I can't listen to that much Wagner. I start getting the urge to conquer Poland. (Woody Allen)

It doesn't mean anything. (Andy Warhol)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For the time being, my dwelling circumstances don't allow me to host surfers... but as soon as they change, I'll be happy to let you stay with me!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just loved each and every couchsurfer I met so far! One very special experience was a couchsurfer hangout / camping night at the beach in Dubai...

Interests

I love my vehicles. From my 1970s Eddy Merkx (single speed) to my black-yellow CicliB hard-tail. And my Vespa P125X from 1980. And my 1964 Vélo-Solex (like the one in "Three Days of the Condor"). And my Honda CG 125 from the 80's that took me all the way to Albania and back.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bought a donkey in Amerzgan, Morocco, and hiked the High Atlas to Marrakech with him (his name was Habib...).

Teach, Learn, Share

Besides studying and learning languages, I have my own small workshop where I weld, hammer, saw, glue... and renovate old bicycles and motorcycles.
And I´m more than happy to fix things (almost anything from shoes to walls) around couches I sleep on!
