Hey there Couchsurfers! I'm Mekayla and like most of the people here, I love to meet and engage with people from all over the world. My wanderlust began at the age of 3 when my parents brought me along on a missions trip to Bangladesh. Since then my appreciation for other cultures has grown exponentially as I continue to meet people and hear their stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm currently studying abroad at Oxford this term and want to engage in the local scene in the UK! This is my first time here although I have traveled through Europe in the past.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm incredibly blessed to come from a big family and have a great circle of friends. The only downside to this is that I have a really hard time being alone. I challenged myself to do a 3 day trip by myself somewhere and decided to head to Rome. The first day was rough not going to lie! I was scared not having anyone by my side and just wanted to go back to my hostel to FaceTime friends. However come day 2 I picked up the courage to venture out to all the sites I'd read about growing up and got comfortable doing the solo mission. Although it was a short trip, I'm proud of myself for actually doing it and look forward to trying more solo excursions while I'm here.

I'm studying to become an English teacher so if you need someone to practice with, I'm your gal! Also teach swim lessons but it's a little cold here for that =P
