About Me

I was born and raised in Minnesota and have always had an appreciation for the outdoors. As I’ve gotten older, my curiosities have expanded immensely and I am eager to explore and experience cultures all around the globe. I’m always planning my next getaway, whether that be stateside or international. I believe strongly in a work-life balance and am thankful to have a job that allows me flexibility to travel. I am grateful for the places I’ve been and excited for what’s yet to come! I enjoy backpacking, hiking, learning new games, trying new food and staying connected with family and friends. I’m a busy body, so I’m also learning to take time to relax, unplug and unwind from time to time. My vata is usually high and I am working on being mindful of finding balance across all aspects of life.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don’t find myself sitting down to watch movies often! People who know me well know that many movie references go in one ear and out the other. I tend to be on the move and prefer to find ways to keep myself busy in ways that don’t involve screens.

I love going to concerts and have made it a point to check out more local venues. I’m all over the board with my music taste! I love Carole King, Leon Bridges, Steve Miller Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bon Iver, Old Dominion, Maggie Rogers, Kamasi Washington, Louis the Child, to name a few.

I typically read on vacation, especially if I’m on a beach, I’m camping or I’m flying from point A to point B. I prefer nonfiction over fiction. One of my favorite books is They Have a Word for It: A Lighthearted Lexicon of Untranslatable Words and Phrases by Howard Rheingold. It’s a compilation of words that do not have a direct translation in English. The idea behind the book and the process of acquiring the words is so fascinating to me!

Teach, Learn, Share

I studied Communication Sciences and Disorders, so if I could teach anything, it would be related to language/communication! Curious about phonetic transcriptions? I got you.

I’m down to learn more about religion. What do you believe? Or what have you believed in? What do you not believe in? Why? I find religion fascinating similar to how I find language fascinating. Also—if you know about Ayurveda, let’s chat! Or, are you into foraging? I’m willing to learn about just about anything!

I’ll share recipes with you! I love cooking and baking. I’ve kind of been phasing meat out of my diet and enjoy finding ways to make fun, tasty plant based meals.
