Overview
About Me
I am very creative and very committed to the spiritual path. I am practicing in the Thai Forest Therevadan Buddhist tradition. This means I meditate daily, chant (can do so very quietly not to bother others), and take 5 precepts (killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, speaking harshly, divisively, lying, not drinking alcohol or taking drugs). I spend most of my time focused on creating in a myriad of ways. Attending dhamma talks and retreats. Nature is really nourishing. And I've found I've learnt a lot from travelling on my own. I have an appreciation for mental health and education alternatives that centre self-determination.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
For me it is important to ask when we need help. It has been a difficult journey to get myself to asking. Also I find joy in others generosity as well as my own. I find myself much more nourished having personal encounters than staying in hotels.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I surfed in Edinburgh and Valencia. In Edinburgh my host really helped me come to terms with my own insanities. In Valencia I had difficulty with 'being hosted' as I had been living in co-ops before hand. I was going through a lot of questioning- criticality. Later back in Australia I stayed with one of the most liberal and ecologically inspiring people I've met (in Adelaide and had a great landing - from the harshness of camping in Central Australia). I also hosted a now dear friend who i've played music with and introduced to her now husband and father of her child. In my most recent tour (2022) I stayed with someone in Amsterdam where there was some wealth in a shared personal experience that has shaped our lives. And was looked after in transit through Switzerland - and I felt I had some experience to share that could contribute to the work the couple were about to set off doing. That's my reflections.
