About Me

Hi! My name is Mel, I'm a 23 year old student doing an exchange program in Tilburg University, The Netherlands. I'm originally from Melbourne, Australia and am hoping to do some traveling whilst studying abroad in Europe. I love exploring new cities and hope that Couchsurfing will give me the opportunity to experience new places on a deeper level by interacting with locals!I'm sociable but respectful, and I promise never to make anyone I meet on here try Vegemite (even though it's awesome :)

Interests

I love the outdoors and have a healthy appetite for adventure. I guess that's why I love traveling so much - because every time you go somewhere new its so exciting, and it always touches you in some way which makes you develop as a person.

I love food - particularly when its something I haven't tried before. I try to cook, but I'm not sure if I'm that good. I am a vegan, which people tend to think is terribly restrictive, but not if you can get creative ;) Plus falafel is amazing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love a wide variety of music, but I'm not afraid to admit that Drake is my favourite artist (except for maybe the Weeknd).

I'm also an avid reader, which I guess is fortune because I study law and that involves a lot of reading...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling all over South America was one of the best experiences of my life. I think it really made me much more self-sufficient and taught me so much about independent traveling and experiencing new cultures. I climbed Machu Picchu, lazed around on Ipanema, got a parasite on the Salt Flats and glandular fever in Arequipa, but it was the whole bundle of crazy things that made it the most amazing adventure ever.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook (if you don't mind vegan food), and am happy to help cleaning if need be. Unfortunately being from an English speaking country I am so uneducated in grasping foreign languages, but I try to converse socially in Spanish and French. Whether I'm actually any good is another story though.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Peru, Scotland, Switzerland, United States, Uruguay

Countries I’ve Lived In
