About Me

***I just moved cross-country to LA and am still getting settled and currently unable to accept guests! I will edit this if/when I can resume hosting. In the meantime--if you're in LA and would like to connect, please shoot me a message! Would love to connect with other folks out here! :)***

I'm an actor/director/voice actor and citizen of the world! I act mainly on-camera for film and TV, and behind the mic doing VO for animation and games. I'm on the Netflix series THE OA and appear on Ryan Murphy's new series FEUD: BETTE AND JOAN in April 2017, and will be making my big screen debut opposite Matt Damon (!!!) in Alexander Payne's next film, DOWNSIZING, in December 2017! You can see more about my professional work on my IMDb page here: I'm also a bike rider, bunny owner, proud member of the Jew crew, music/arts lover, language learner, and life liver. Among many, many other things. :) I've done and seen lots of interesting things!

I love singing, and I love music from all over the world. These days I'm listening to a lot of rock, new age and world music (mostly in Korean, Japanese, Turkish, Spanish and German).

Have studied Korean, Japanese, Spanish, German and Hebrew to various extents. I can read and write all of them but understanding them all...that's a different story. :) My Korean's definitely the best, which makes sense considering I lived in Seoul for a year and a half.

Anything else you want to know...please ask!!

To be the best Melanie I can be!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I live in North Hollywood, an AWESOME neighborhood in Los Angeles (in the San Fernando Valley area, commonly referred to as just "the Valley"). I'm a short bus ride or easy walk to the North Hollywood Metro Station, off the Red and Orange metro lines. I'm happy to host anyone, but I keep a strictly vegetarian home and ask that my guests respect this. (If you are not sure what that entails, please ask!)

Please note that, for my own safety and comfort, I do not host male guests traveling by themselves--just women and couples. Thank you for respecting my needs!

I have had nothing but AWESOME experiences on CS, both in hosting and in surfing! Most interesting CS experience so far? I hosted a CSer through a hurricane and subsequent power outage and mandatory evacuation from my apartment...on said CSer's birthday. Whew!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I made my Carnegie Hall debut in January 2016, singing one of my favorite works by my favorite living composer--with a small solo, to boot--and it all started with me just calling up and asking if I could.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to share what I know, and love to learn ANYTHING. Seriously! If there's something you're good at (or even not good at but just passionate about :P ) I love learning new things!
